Community Chaplains are a rare breed, especially in a place such as Lane Cove. Here are some questions which frequently arise about me and my role.
Am I supported by Lane Cove Council? No. However, Council hosts many community-oriented events, so you will often see me there. Lane Cove Uniting Church supports me to be in the community and available to everyone. So you’re their Minister then? No. The Uniting Church has their own Pastor, so I am fully released to be in the community. I am an ordained Minister though – albeit a bit of an unusual one! Whereas I try to live out Christian values in my life, I don’t try to force them on others nor judge another’s lifestyle. I’m happy to address faith issues with those who are interested. Do you have a specific focus? I am listening and learning from this community and trying to discover where I can best be of service, along with others of similar outlook. My developing focus is upon connecting people:
Excellent question, as I don’t sit still for long! However, I now have an office at 180 Longueville Road (Living and Learning Centre). Please contact me if you would like to have a cuppa and a chat. My regular groups and activities include – Meeting House Playgroup, Tuesday mornings; Walk and Wonder (for young families and moderately fit people) Sunday afternoons monthly; Parents and Kids Cooking Fun, Mondays monthly; Christian Meditation, Thursdays 1.30pm. Details can be found on my website or directly from me. I’d love to meet you and hear your story.
