Walk and Wonder
Featuring local Lane Cove bush walks of approximately 1-1.5 hours, easy to moderate grade. We walk on the third Sunday afternoon of the month.
Our groups are intergenerational and multicultural. Many of our walkers are 50+ but we also have younger adults and families join us and find the children engage very well. We enjoy discussion over shared snacks mid-way. The only cost is contributing a snack to the common 'table'.
Respectful Conversations Group
A lively discussion group exploring matters of faith and belief that are 'edgy' in nature. A forum to discuss and even disagree - respectfully - in a congenial environment on Wednesday nights once a month.
Small groups who share dinner and help each other explore what it means to be a disciple of Jesus today. An open, confidential, non-judgemental environment in which to share what is relevant to our lives today.
Graham Long CEO of Wayside came to speak to Lane Cove about loneliness from his perspective on 26 July 2017. The 1 hour audio file below includes Q & A.
Coffee or Dinner anyone?
Some low key gatherings where you can just turn up and enjoy the company of others over food and beverages.
Coffee on Thursdays at 2.30pm at Two Brothers Cafe (Lane Cove plaza near Longueville Road). Buy a coffee and meet new friends, fortnightly. Check date via Contact Form or ask at the cafe.
Dinner on third Sundays of the month at Fourth Fish.
Games in the Park
Sunday 28 January at 1.30pm at Helen St Reserve, Lane Cove North. A variety of sports for all to join in or spectate. Recurring last Sunday of the month.
Lunchtime Chess in the Plaza
Fridays 12.30-2pm, outside Two Brothers Coffee Shop. Challenge Chaplain Karen, Rotarian Frank or other players to a game, or simply watch, chat and drink good coffee! Free coaching available.
Christian Meditation Group
Thursdays at 1.30 pm, Lane Cove Uniting Church chapel, corner Figtree St and Centennial Ave, Lane Cove. Learn to live from the centre of your being in every situation by the practice of silence and stillness. A part of the Australian Christian Meditation Community.
It's free and flexible. The practice is a simple one, so come and join us any time and you will receive immediate instruction. There are no 'experts' - come and learn with us.
We will take a break for the summer school holidays.
Retreats and Camps
We enjoyed two wonderful retreats last year. Retreat activities have included reflective bush walking, exploring some ancient spiritual practices, creative pursuits, and some great eating.
We have now begun family camping adventures too.
Places are limited so contact us to learn more. You don't need to be Christian, just respectful of others' beliefs, open to meeting some new people and having a good time!
